The title, Burning Night, leans into the sublime yet unsettling concept of midnight sun, experienced in places far from the equator. These places are often remote or isolated. The extreme change between light and darkness in Nordic countries shares a similar, yet inverted, intensity with Aotearoa.

Familiar to a nocturnal studio practice, this book gathers artists and designers who have developed a common language within a remote place. Fashion with silhouettes of singed flower cutouts, liquid-like PVC, and soft textured fibres. Photography that uses hard flash with a deep glossy fall-off. Repetition exists in material, tactility and process. One medium is not alone within another.
