The photobook, Chairs, by Julia Palm is a playful tribute to the experience as a self-described chair hoarder/ collector. Obsessively building a second-hand collection of chrome and leather chairs, an opportunity was presented to exhibit them as a whole in an empty gravel lot in Brooklyn, Wellington. The book is a collision of order and chaos, playing with the space between a cathartic public reveal and inventory stock-take. The book was printed on large paper stock to hold space like the chair collection itself, yet it signals to the modernist structures by remaining light and lofty, like the chrome and leather chairs themselves.

Julia Palm is a fashion designer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. Her project-based slow-fashion project, JPALM, borrows heavily from its origins within punk culture. The hands-on method of making allows the designer to make impromptu decisions, and adapt/change as the materials demand.
