‘THIS(space)’ acted as a retail shop, exhibition space and working studio for one week in central Te-Whanganui-a-Tara. Not waiting around for anyone else to tell them how it’s done – these Aotearoa makers are carving new exciting paths. Many of the creatives involved in THIS(space) reject the classic industry forms and make up their own rules.

This event was run as a collective, with any funds raised going directly to the creative who made the item, to then buy more materials, pay their studio rent, and continue their mahi. This was a circular system where the creative got to interact with the public and chat about being a maker.

‘THIS.space’ presented multiple intersections through a collision of disciplines including contemporary fashion, photography, art, books + zines, jewellery and tattoo.

‘THIS.space’ included new works by JPalm, Vague Jewellery, Georgette Brown, Black Wax Press, Geo Knits Slow, Motel Bible, Georgia Rose Anderson, Laura Duffy, Ella Harrington Knapton, Jing Hé 00/01, Megan Stewart, Archie Fitzgerald, and Florence Isaacs.
