This piece was inspired by creating a collage of fabrics that compliments each other. Upon finding the kimono at an opportunity shop, I immediately became obsessed with the lining and how the tones work with each other so well. There were some areas where it needed to be mended due to it's age. I wanted to highlight these imperfections by using Sashiko stitch detailing using a topstitching thread. I also left the original stitches that was there when it was made to show the Origins of this garment.
